The great goal of the EU Commission to significantly lower the number of accident victims on European roads by 2010 is meaningfully supported by the DocStop initiative. Only healthy professional drivers are also safe drivers who cause fewer serious accidents. That naturally applies to other road users too, because people must be at the centre of all our efforts to make our roads safer. Technology can only help to a certain extent here.
It's my pleasure to support Dr. Dieter Koch (MEP) as patron and Mr Rainer Bernickel (retired police officer) as the leader of the initiative DocStop für Europäer e.V. in the establishment of the densest possible network for improving medical care on the road. This European pilot project for the aid of truck drivers should not only be accompanied by everyone involved with trucks, but also vigorously supported with active help.
I wish the executive board of DocStop every success with its extensive work in creating a network for the benefit of all professional drivers.
