For some years now my team and I have been supporting Rainer Bernickel's nationwide road safety work and in particular his DocStop initiative. Especially for the Truck GP at the Nürburgring we are helping DocStop to become better known in order to introduce this type of direct help to all truck drivers. The establishment of medical care for all professional drivers on the road was long overdue. My team and I therefore welcome the DocStop initiative with enthusiasm.
Not only must something be done for the positive job profile of this target group; it is also the responsibility of society as a whole to provide for a humane workplace – a responsibility that I'm pleased to support with my team. It is all too often the case that society doesn't care about truck drivers and we find that regrettable. But everyone would be astounded at how empty it would be in our "temples of consumerism" if there were no truck drivers or if they were to stay away from their "place of work" for just three days. The drivers must iron out all problems that occur during their driving jobs themselves – and that is hard work. DocStop has now become an institution right across Europe and the drivers joyfully accept this help. I hear that more and more.
Dear Rainer, my team and I wish you continued success with the implementation of your road safety goals and you can count on our support.
